The Great Depression Stats essays
The Great Depression Stats essays The Great Depression of the 1920s and 1930s began when the stock market crashed on October 24, 1929 after reaching an all-time high on September 3, 1929. Everyone was jubilant and happy before the crash because the 1,500,00 people in America who had invested in shares of companies were making a lot of money. Corporations were experiencing a period of time when expansion was up, poverty was down and everyone was happy. Bankers attempted to calm stock holders but on October 29, 1929 some 16,000,000 shares were sold at a loss and all of America was in a panic. The stock market crash itself brought down practically the entire U.S. economy and lowered wages, which in turn brought more problems. Food shortages occurred and many people found that they could no longer afford bread and butter to feed themselves. Within most big cities there was some form of relief system set up and many people went there in order to eat, while trying not to let their friends notice that they were there. Soon after, the cities ran out of money for the relief programs and some people were without food and shelter. Six months after the stock crash 4,000,000 people had lost there jobs. Many people lost their homes and built shacks out of anything they could find, such as cardboard, cans, and old wood. In 1932 14,000,000 people were jobless and $75,000,000,000 was estimated to be lost. Farmers were known to dump harvested crops and food in order to drive up prices and create shortages because they couldnt make enough money to feed their family. Personal families were also seriously affected because there was no food to go around and good people had to steal or beg to feed their families. When Soviet Russia offered a job that required 6,000 people, 100,000 applied. The suicide rate rose and the birthrate dropped as hope for recovery began dropping. When Congress began a bill that would give a bonus to Veterans of war, a prote...

6 Steps to Accepting a Job Offer With Professionalism
6 Steps to Accepting a Job Offer With Professionalism All right! After rounds of applications, interviewing, and your very best professional behavior, you have a job offer. The company liked it, and now they want to put a ring on it. How you react to this offer can really set the tone for your tenure as the newest employee of JobCorp, so be sure to play it the right way. 1 .à Say thank you.Even though youââ¬â¢ve already sent a thank-you note to everyone whose inbox you touched through this hiring process (you have sent those notes, right?), you still need to thank whoever is extending you the offer. It could be your new manager or it could be a Human Resources hiring specialist youââ¬â¢ll never see again, except at company-wide pizza parties. Regardless, extend a hearty ââ¬Å"thanks,â⬠and be sure to tell them how excited you are about discussing the offer further.2.à If itââ¬â¢s not in writing, get a paper trail. Some companies like the personal touch of calling candidates to extend an offer. This is usually followed by a confirmation email or letter, but itââ¬â¢s on you to make sure that step is forthcoming. It can be as easy as saying, ââ¬Å"Great, thanks so much! Will you be sending me the details and next steps in an email?â⬠That way, you have all the necessary details after you start to come down from the I got the job euphoria.3.à Make sure you understand the timeline.Itââ¬â¢s okay to ask how long you have to give a final answer. You donââ¬â¢t win anything for responding in record time, and employers expect that there will be some negotiation happening. If the answer is that you need to answer immediately, thatââ¬â¢s not a great sign- a day or two is a very reasonable request for making such a big decision.4.à Get ready to negotiate.Once you have the details about salary, benefits, and job description, decide whether they work for you. This is your chance to bump up your offer package. You may or may not be successful depending on what youââ¬â¢re asking and what t he company can give, but having realistic asks ready to go will help keep things moving.5.à Once youââ¬â¢re ready to say yes, make sure all details are clear.Reiterate (in writing if possible- remember the paper trail) the details of the offer, including salary, start date, and any points that you negotiated. From a legal standpoint, it makes everything clear, but that doesnââ¬â¢t mean you should see this as an adversarial thing where youââ¬â¢re likely to see your new employer in court someday. Really, itââ¬â¢s just as much for your own benefit, to make sure you have everything straight in your own head. That way, there are no nasty surprises on day one.6. After you say yes, start asking transition questions. Is there an orientation for new employees? Do you need to fill any paperwork out before you start? Can you get your million dollar signing bonus in gold coins? (That oneââ¬â¢s assuming the negotiation went really well.) It shows that youââ¬â¢re already a full y engaged employee, and it will keep you excited for your new start as you prepare to say goodbye to your current job.

What are the three best critical questions that one can bring to the Essay
What are the three best critical questions that one can bring to the study of the international relations of china - Essay Example ieves, it has tried to grow in reference to its historyand this has impacted positively towards its international and domestic affairs and finally maintaining respecting its legacy of irredentism. Being the worldââ¬â¢s oldest culture, Chinese culture has perceived a dominant coverage in a large geographical region in eastern Asia with customs and traditions varying greatly between provinces, cities, and even towns. Literature, music, visual arts, maritalarts, cuisine and religion makes the important components of the culture. The Culture covers large geographical territories in china; usuallyeach region isdivided into distinct sub-cultures and represented by three ancestral items. A good example is Guangdong represented by chenpi, aged ginger and hay. These distinctions give rise to the old Chinese proverb: ââ¬Å"Shà là bà ¹tà ³ng fÃâng, bÃŽi là bà ¹tà ³ng sà ºÃ¢â¬ literally "the wind varies within ten li, customs vary within a hundred li." In relation to the marital art, Chinese marital arts are collectively given the name kung fu,Kung to mean "achievement" or "merit", and (fu) "man", thus "human achievement"). The first generation of art started mor e for the purpose of survival and warfare than art. Over time, some art forms have branched off, while others have retained a distinct Chinese flavor. Regardless, China has produced some of the most renowned martial artists for example wong Fei Hung. Chinese civilization originated in various regional centers along both the Yellow River and the Yangtze River valleys in the Neolithic era, but the Yellow River is said to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. With thousands of years of continuous history, China is one of the worlds oldest civilizations. For instance, the yellow played a number of roles: to start with, according to the Chinese culture, Family is seen to be very important. The authority of the family belongs to the father. The father always arranges the marriages for his daughters, controls the amount of

Implementation of new or improved products in Financial Services Essay
Implementation of new or improved products in Financial Services Industry - Essay Example In those cases where there are existing products which need slight modifications in terms of the cost, benefit or service to the customers, the firms tried to introduce such changes to make them marketable. Both the introduction of the new products as well as changes to be made in the existing products are to be undertaken by the firms with remarkable speed, so that they reach the customers well ahead of the products from the competitors. But the firms are not left with an option to skip any of the steps that may be necessary to make the product marketable. Any such effort to skip certain essential steps to implement the new product or changed product may result in the failure and the resultant monetary loss to the organization concerned. Alternatively it is quite possible for the firms to make a thorough study of all the aspects of the implementation of a new product and decide on a methodical approach based on the sequence and timing of the different implementation processes to mak e the product launch successful. In this the organization has to consider two sets of implementation processes; one concerned with the steps the firm needs to take internally within the organization and the other which deals with the external processes. It may be observed that both sets of implementation processes do have different focal points and may have to be deployed at different points of time during the implementation of a new product. Hence a methodical approach to the implementation demands a concerted and coordinated action with respect to these processes from the firm for a successful implementation. This study paper deals with the internal and external implementation processes for a new product as well as for effecting changes in the existing products in the service industry. Financial service products companies operating in todayââ¬â¢s competitive environment are increasingly challenged to keep pace with the changing customer preferences, to achieve new product

Single Sex School Essay Example for Free
Single Sex School Essay Segregated schools shoot up very rapidly around the world, furthermore, many sociologists and educationalists support that it is more beneficial for girls to study in a girls-only secondary school than in co-educational school. Actuallyï ¼Å'the disadvantages overweigh the advantages of choosing such schools. This essay will argue three disadvantages brought by single-sex school: poor socialization skills, skewed perception of gender roles and incorrect learning styles. To begin withï ¼Å'it is difficult for those who enter adult society after years of segregation to build meaningful friendships and even successful romantic relationships with opposite sex, according to the research published by Dr. Lynn Liben in 2011. Teenagers spend their formative years in the classroom developing skills that will help them maintain relationships throughout their lives. In addition, one of the chief aims of education is equip future citizens with all they require to take their places in adult society which is made up of male and female, it is clear that choosing single gender education is not a wise choice to access this purpose. Second, attending an all-girls school can teach female students a skewed perception of gender roles. On purpose, girls might avoid certain activities because those subjects are stereotypically too masculinized. Girls at a single-sex institution may ridicule each other for participating in activities like football or basketball. Female students can miss out on discovering new interests and talents by avoiding certain subjects altogether. Some Advocates of single-sex schools state that teachers can gear lessons toward a specific genders learning style. However, there is not enough research to prove that the learning styles of boys and girls differ enough to validate single-sex education. Also, not every boy and girl adheres to gender role stereotypes. Some girls are aggressive, and some boys are sensitive and shy. According to an article by Great Schools, gender-based learning styles prove ineffective and may even impair learning for students who dont fit the mold. In conclusion, girls in single sex schools might face disadvantages like poor socialization skills, skewed perception of gender roles and incorrect learning styles, so parents should be careful when they make decision of education style for their children.

The Pathological Protagonist of Dostoevskyââ¬â¢s Notes from the Underground
The Pathological Protagonist of Dostoevskyââ¬â¢s Notes from the Underground Dostoevskyââ¬â¢s vision of the world is violent and his characters tortured; it is no wonder that many have viewed his work as prophetic of the 20th century. However, though Dostoevsky, in his unflinching portrayal of depravity, gives the Devil some of his best arguments, the Gospel often triumphs. Ivan Karamazov is at least offered the possibility of repentance when kissed by his saintly brother Alyosha. Raskolnikov, the nihilistic antihero of Crime and Punishment, is eventually redeemed through the love of the pure prostitute Sonja. Notes from the Underground, however, breaks this pattern. The protagonist of this novel, who, uncharacteristically for Dostoevsky, is also the narrator, is not redeemed by his encounter with a prostitute, but rather degrades both her and himself by his actions. While Notes from the Underground has often been analyzed from a philosophical perspective, as Dostoevskyââ¬â¢s defense of free will against the mechanistic determinism and utilitarian moral theories popular in his day, it is more properly viewed as a character study. This view is necessitated, Ralph Matlaw writes, by the unreliability of the underground man as a guide to his own character and motivations (102). One who consistently proves to be a liar in matters of fact is not likely to be an honest theoretician either. The underground man himself, nearing the conclusion of his philosophical reflections, writes, ââ¬Å"I swear to you, gentlemen, there is not one thing, not one word of what I have written that I really belie ve. Inventory system theoretical framework Essay
2.1 Introduction The theoretical framework gives information about concepts, together with their definition which are used in the proposed system. This chapter will be giving the relationship of the existing theories given below to the proposed system. 2.2 Transaction Processing System A transaction processing system, or TPS, is a system to capture and process the detailed information necessary to update data on the fundamental operations of an organization. A transaction is essentially a single event that changes something. There are many different types of transactions. For example, customer orders, receipts, invoices, payments, etc. The actual processing of transactions includes the collection, editing, manipulation and storage of data. The result of processing a transaction is that the records of an organization are updated to reflect the new conditions at the time of the last processed transaction. [http://education-portal.com/academy/lesson/transaction-processing-systems-tps] TPS will be the type of structure of the proposed system where it can help the owner and staff to process large amount of itemââ¬â¢s data in the company and to process of transactions in the customer. 2.3 Inventory Management Software Inventory management software is a computer-based system for tracking inventory levels, orders, sales and deliveries. It can also be used in the manufacturing industry to create a work order, bill of materials and other production-related documents. Companies use inventory management software to avoid product overstock and outages. It is a tool for organizing inventory data that before was generally stored in hard-copy form or in spreadsheets. It is often associated with and is similar to distribution software, as distributors that can compete with less cash tied up in inventories have a distinct advantage over their competitors.[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inventory_management_software]à The proposed system is inventory management software for Miguelââ¬â¢s Home Merchandise. This is the software where can be store and monitor itemââ¬â¢s data. 2.4 Point of Sale (POS) Point of sale (also called POS or checkout, during computerization later becoming electronic point of sale or EPOS) is the place where a retail transaction is completed. It is the point at which a customer makes a payment to the merchant in exchange for goods or services. At the point of sale the retailer would calculate the amount owed by the customer and provide options for the customer to make payment. The merchant will also normally issue a receipt for the transaction. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_of_sale] The proposed system will provide a point of sale system for Miguelââ¬â¢s Home Merchandise. It will help the company for faster and organize customer transaction. 2.5 Microsoft Office Access Microsoft Access, also known as Microsoft Office Access, is a database management system from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools. It is a member of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, included in the professional and higher editions or sold separately. Microsoft Access stores data in its own format based on the Access Jet Database Engine. It can also import or link directly to data stored in other applications and databases. Software developers and data architects can use Microsoft Access to develop application software, and ââ¬Å"power usersâ⬠can use it to build software applications. Like other Office applications, Access is supported by Visual Basic for Applications, an object-oriented programming language that can reference a variety of objects including DAO (Data Access Objects), ActiveX Data Objects, and many other ActiveX components. Visual objects used in forms and reports expose their methods and properties in the VBA programming environment, and VBA code modules may declare and callà Windows operating system functions. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Access] Microsoft Office Access will be the database management system that the proponents will be using to store and monitor all itemsââ¬â¢ information and also use for saving all reports. 2.6 Visual Basic 6.0 Visual Basic is a programming language and development environment created by Microsoft. It is an extension of the BASIC programming language that combines BASIC functions and commands with visual controls. Visual Basic provides a graphical user interface GUI that allows the developer to drag and drop objects into the program as well as manually write program code. Visual Basic, also referred to as ââ¬Å"VB,â⬠is designed to make software development easy and efficient, while still being powerful enough to create advanced programs. For example, the Visual Basic language is designed to be ââ¬Å"human readable,â⬠which means the source code can be understood without requiring lots of comments. The Visual Basic program also includes features like ââ¬Å"IntelliSenseâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Code Snippets,â⬠which automatically generate code for visual objects added by the programmer. Another feature, called ââ¬Å"AutoCorrect,â⬠can debug the code while the program is running. Programs created with Visual Basic can be designed to run on Windows, on the Web, within Office applications, or on mobile devices. Visual Studio, the most comprehensive VB development environment, or IDE, can be used to create programs for all these mediums. Visual Studio .NET provides development tools to create programs based on the .NET framework, such as ASP.NET applications, which are often deployed on the Web. Finally, Visual Basic is available as a streamlined application that is used primarily by beginning developers and for educational. [http://www.techterms.com/definition/visualbasic] Visual Basic 6.0 is providing GUI and it is easily to use because of its drag and drop function. It would be use for all the process of the Miguelââ¬â¢s Home Merchandise. According to history VB 1.0 was introduced in 1991. Theà drag and drop design for creating the user interface is derived from a prototype form generator develop by Alan Cooper and his company called Tripod. Microsoft contracted with cooper and his associates to develop Tripod into a programmable form system for Windows 3.0, under the code name Ruby (no relation to the Ruby programming language) Tripod did not include a programming language at all. Microsoft decided to combine Ruby with the Basic language to create Visual Basic.à The Ruby interface generator provided the ââ¬Å"visualâ⬠part of Visual Basic and this was combined with the ââ¬Å"EBâ⬠Embedded BASIC engine designed for Microsoftââ¬â¢s abandoned ââ¬Å"Omegaâ⬠database system. Ruby also provided the ability to load dynamic link libraries containing additional controls (the called ââ¬Å"gizmozâ⬠), which later became the VBX interface. 2.7 Methodology Software prototyping refers to the activity of creating prototypes of software applications, incomplete versions of the software program being developed. It is an activity that can occur in software development and is comparable to prototyping as known from other fields, such as mechanical engineering or manufacturing. http://istqbexamcertification.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Prototyping-model.jpg Figure 1 Prototyping Model Proponents choose this type of methodology because this type of method can improve the quality and efficiency of the proposed system by testing the code and module in integration testing repeatedly to find the errors in the system before to go to the acceptance and installation, deployment and go to maintenance. This method requires the involvement of the user and they can tell and interact or to give feedback to the development team and know what to change in the system. The development team and the user feedback can provide more changes and improvements in the system. 2.8 Summary In summary, inventory management software and point of sale would be the goal of the proposed system. It would include the all process of companyà wherein the proponents will be making an Inventory System with POS for Miguelââ¬â¢s Home Merchandise. The proponents will be making use of the following software to come up with the system: Visual Basic 6.0 and Microsoft Access for the database.

Abortion: One of the Most Argumentative Topics
One of the most argumentative topics with our court today is the topic of abortion. Abortion has been practiced in the United States since the founding of the Republic according to You debate. It all began when married woman moved to lower their fertility rates after 1830. it became a widespread practice held in the United States. According to You debate, doctorââ¬â¢s estimated that in the 1960ââ¬â¢s through the 1970ââ¬â¢, there was at least one abortion every four birthââ¬â¢s. One common worry that congress had was the safety of the motherââ¬â¢s during the abortion progress. Before 1973, ââ¬Å" abortions were preformed illegally, and in unskilled ways, many woman died from the awful infections and intense bleeding. Hangers and other sharp objects were one of many objects used for illegal abortionsâ⬠(you debate, 2). There are numerous reasons as to why someone would be for abortions, or against abortions. In my own personal opinion, I believe that a woman has a right to decide what she would like to do. This essay will consist of both proââ¬â¢s and conââ¬â¢s of abortion. Also, it will include certain cases that been brought to the congressââ¬â¢s attention. Abortion is a topic that several Americans have expressed their concerns with. People have the right to their own opinion whether they are pro or con for abortion. There are several reasons for pro-choice. One according to WCLA, is that ââ¬Å" we support reproductive freedomâ⬠which means that an individual woman should be able to make her own choice whether or not she is going to give birth to the child. Also, laws have never stopped abortion. When illegal abortion was the leading killer of woman in the United States, there was no right to life choice. Most people in the United States believe that abortion may be the morally right choice under certain circumstances. Some of those circumstances are for example when a woman is rapped. If a woman gets rapped, I believe that is she is pregnant by the man, that she does have a right whether or not to birth the child because of the circumstances. According to WLCA, ââ¬Å" Many people who are personally opposed to abortion for religious or moral reasons also believe that itââ¬â¢s wrong to impulse their values by civil law on everyone. You donââ¬â¢t have to like abortion to respect the right of choice. Another argument that congress has had to face is whether the baby is considered a alive, or is not. According to WLCA, ââ¬Å"The fetus is totally dependent on the body of the woman for itââ¬â¢s life support. The health of the fetus is directly related to the health of the pregnant woman. Only at birth are they separated. â⬠A woman named Margaret Sanger said, ââ¬Å" No woman can call herself free who does not own and control her own body. â⬠Almost all legislatures who oppose abortion rights also support the death penalty. One might ask if they think that people who are are convicted of murder are no longer human. According to the WLCA, The Constitution protects various rights that are not specifically mentioned. The constitutional right of privacy has been interpreted repeatedly to include matters of marriage, sex, and family, specifically ââ¬Å"the right to be free from unwarranted governmental intrusion into matters so fundamentally affecting a person as the decision whether to bear a child or beget a child. â⬠The agreement among the people of the United States has grown in support. In 1982, an NBC poll showed that 77% agreed to abortion should be between the woman and the doctor only. Another poll showed that 5. 4% of rape victims become pregnant. This poll proved that people are becoming more sympathetic towards women who are being rapped and getting pregnant. Also, most medications are not completely 100% effective for getting pregnant. Because of this, abortion should not be a problem because all medications are not 100% effective. Also, some people cannot afford to pay for medications. Therefore, abortion would be necessary. According to WLCA, ââ¬Å"The increase in teen sex has complex society causes, including sexually orientated such as TV, movies, and ads. Birth control and abortion donââ¬â¢t cause sex. â⬠The Supreme Court, in 1976, reaffirmed that the privacy allows woman to be free of governmental interference in decisions about childbearing. The court struck down the law that the father of the child does not have a say so in the decision of his unborn child. The court came to the conclusion that the person who is physically bearing the child is more affected by the pregnancy. Another reason for abortion is that most unwanted babies are usually battered or even killed by the immature parents are not ready to raise a child. The parents may not want the baby, so there fore they do not show or give the baby the love that he or she needs. Most abortions are done for health reason. When is a woman is with child, there are several cases in which the mother could in fact become in danger is the mother does decide to bear the child. In some cases, the babies that are being aborted are unhealthy babies. The parents can try again for a healthy baby. Also if we have abortion clinics, there will be a less percent of ââ¬Å"abortion millsâ⬠. These are places in which woman have high risks of being hurt by the people actually doing the procedure. One last reason according to WLCA, why abortions should be accepted in the United States is that when a child is in the wound, the brain and sensory waves do not develop until the 30th week. Most abortions do not accrue usually after the 24th week. There are several reasons as to why people do not accept abortion in the Untied States. People believe that human life begins when there is conception of a child. Therefore, it would be calling abortion murder. According to WLCA, ââ¬Å"abortion is morally wrong. â⬠wrong. â⬠They believe that if you think abortion is morally wrong, you are obligated to work to make abortion illegal. People also believe that it is a sense of ââ¬Å"decayâ⬠towards Americans. People believe that the fetus is not just part of the mother, but actually another separate human being. The argument that argues a womanââ¬â¢s rights to her own body are argued with the statement, ââ¬Å"The right of the unborn to live supersedes any right of a woman to control her own bodyâ⬠(WLCA, 1 ). Abortion could also be wrong because it is described as taking a human life. Also, if abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution, then why is it considered a constitutional right? People in the United States declare that we add an amendment that describes it as the human life amendment. This would consist of declaring a fetus a full person. Also, abortion should not be legal because of a rape situation. They believe this because the percent of woman who get pregnant after being rapped are very low. The question will always remain ââ¬Å"If you are having sex, you should be able to pay for consequences. â⬠Most Americans feel that if a woman is old enough to have sex, then she is able to take care of a child if she is aware of the idea of getting pregnant. According to DEBATE, ââ¬Å"Teenagers are being les and less capable of saying no. Having the option of abortion increases the sexual experiences of teenagers. â⬠People think that the teenager who is considering having an abortion, to consult their parents first. They believe that the parent will be able to help guide the teenagerââ¬â¢s decision to a more moral outcome. Another argument is that most parents, who do not want the child at the time, want the child later on in life. There are several other negative effects of abortion such as woman who have died from legal abortion verses those who have died from illegal abortions. Study shows that if a woman has an abortion, then it could possibly affect her pregnancy later on in life. Adoption affects are also a strong case in congress with the subject of abortion. They want people to know that they could give birth to the child, and then give it up for adoption. There has also been a shortage is adoptive children because of the high numbers of abortion each year. In conclusion, there are several opinions on whether a woman has the right to carry her pregnancy to full term. There are several pros and cons about the topic abortion. In the United States, people battle with abortion everyday. This is a topic that may take several years to finally resolve with the Supreme Court. Is it that we are murdering a human being? Does a woman have the right whether to bear and have her child? Should the Supreme Court be for or against it? Both sides have very strong points of view about the positive and negative affects. With the case of Madsen V. Womanââ¬â¢s Health Center, the people protesting do have the right to their freedom of speech because it was not trespassing. But will it do any good or have any affect on the woman going in and out of the clinic? Who knows? This is a difficult decision that the Congress will have to decide. How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Headline
How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Headline How confident are you in your LinkedIn headline? Have you crafted it with keywords and viewer engagement in mind? Many LinkedIn users have not considered either SEO or marketing strategies in their headlines, mistakenly believing that their LinkedIn headline must be the same as their current job title. I frequently see job titles like ââ¬Å"Project Manager at ABC Company.â⬠In fact, using your current job title with nothing more will do very little to help you get found on LinkedIn. With 120 characters to play with, you can do so much more! LinkedIn headlines with brief titles such as IT Consultant, Sports Executive, or Sales Professional dont distinguish you from every other person with the same job description in a pool of half a billion LinkedIn users. To stand out in your LinkedIn headline, you must use both keywords and an attention-grabbing statement. Otherwise, you wont appear at the top of LinkedIn search results, and you certainly wont capture your readers attention. How to Identify Keywords for a KILLER LinkedIn Headline Not sure how to choose your top keywords? Here are my top 5 tips for building your LinkedIn SEO: 1. Put yourself in the position of the people who are searching for you. Who is searching for you on LinkedIn? Are they potential clients? Recruiters and hiring managers? Future business partners? Think about what and whom they would be looking for on LinkedIn and identify the phrases they would be searching for. These keywords might include job titles, core competencies, geographical regions, technical skills, soft skills, languages and more. Put the top keywords you identify into your headline. 2. Brainstorm. You know your profession better than anyone, so simply brainstorming commonly used words in your field can reap the perfect keywords. 3. Do comparative research. Another great tactic is looking at the profiles of other people with backgrounds or positions similar to yours. What keywords are showing up in their headlines? You might want to ââ¬Å"borrowâ⬠them. Do not ââ¬â I repeat do NOT ââ¬â copy someone elseââ¬â¢s LinkedIn headline (or any part of their profile) verbatim! 4. Wordle it (for job seekers). If you are a job seeker, you can look at job advertisements for your target position and count keywords by hand that are showing up repeatedly. Or, to save some time and energy, use Wordle.net (Java must be installed, and Safari and Internet Explorer work best). Simply put the copy from a few job listings into Wordle.net/create and generate a word map that shows you what words come up most frequently. Use those keywords! Hereââ¬â¢s what I got when I put in some financial analyst job descriptions: And hereââ¬â¢s one for a CTO: 5. Featured Skills Endorsements LinkedIn has done a lot of work for you in the Skills section. The items that come up in the drop-down menu in that section are keywords most searched for by recruiters. Scan through the skills that autopopulate there to see what keywords LinkedIn suggests for your profession. Once you have identified your top keywords, use them! Before I knew the power of keywords, my LinkedIn headline read: Founder and Senior Editor, The Essay Expert. Note the lack of keywords in that headline. Now it reads: The new headline has a lot more keywords. When I changed my headline, as well as added more keywords to my Current Job Title, Summary, Skills, and other Job Titles, I went from being almost invisible in searches to coming up first in the search rankings on queries for Executive Resume Writer in my geographic area of Madison, WI. Adding keywords will not only help your SEO within LinkedIn, but it will help you on Google too. Heres a sample Google result: Its incontrovertible. You will get value from including keywords in your LinkedIn headline. So if yourà LinkedIn headline consists solely of your job title and company name, go change it now! How to Convey Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) Once youââ¬â¢ve identified your keywords, craft a headline for your profile that tells us what makes you unique while including as many of those keywords as possible. Here are some examples: Frank Kanu Management / Business Consultant ââ" Speaker ââ" Author ââ" Leading Fortune 500 and Small Business Executives Teams Dave Stachowiak Host/Founder of Coaching for Leaders, a Top 10 iTunes careers podcast Senior VP, Dale Carnegie of Southern Los Angeles Ole-Kristian Sivertsen Senior Vice President Maritime | Global Eagle (MTN, EMC, GEE) | Market Leader in Mobility, Content Connectivity See the advantage over headlines like Consultant or Senior VP? More explicit headlines give spark and color to your profile as opposed to just listing your job title; and they contain keywords to help you appear at the top of search results. They can also hint at your personality, the results you produce, and some of your soft skills. NOTE: Including proper keywords does not guarantee your profile will appear at the top of searches. There are other factors that go into search rankings- most notably your number of connections and your level of profile completeness. But without keywords, your profile is guaranteed to remain at the bottom of the pile. MOBILE NOTE: When connections search for you on their phones, your entire LinkedIn headline is not visible, so use your most important keywords in the first 50 characters. What if Ive never held the position I want to be found for? If you are seeking a position as VP of Finance, and you have never held that position before, consider creative ways of including the keywords VP and Finance. For example: VP-Level Finance Executive or Available for VP of Finance Position at Growing Company. Of course you need to make sure not to misrepresent yourself, so you might need to say Poised forâ⬠¦ or something similar. Note that if you have performed the functions to match a job title, you can put the job title in your headline. I say if youve done the job, you can claim the job title! Should I include a tagline? There is evidence that you will have a higher conversion rate if you include a tagline or unique selling proposition (USP) in addition to straight keywords in your headline. Best strategy: Use keywords to increase the frequency with which you are found in searches; include a tagline or USP to generate interest so people click to read more. In conclusionâ⬠¦ More keywords in your LinkedIn headline means you will rank higher in searches- more people will find you. And with an effective tagline, people will be sufficiently intrigued to read more. An increase in page views means more potential business activity or job search activity for you. Keywords are your key to success. This article was adapted from my book, How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Profile And 18 Mistakes to Avoid. Discover the Windward and Leeward Islands
Discover the Windward and Leeward Islands The Windward Islands, the Leeward Islands, and the Leeward Antilles are part of theà Lesser Antillesà in the Caribbean Sea. These island groups include many of the most popular tourist destinations in the West Indies. This collection of islands is diverse in terrain and culture. Most are very small and the tiniest islands remain uninhabited. Among the major islands in this area, a number of them are independent countries while in some instances two islands may be governed as a single country. Quite a few remain as territories of larger countries like the United States, United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands. What Are the Windward Islands? The Windward Islands include theà southeastern islands of the Caribbean.à Theyre called the Windward Islands because they are exposed to the wind (windward) of the northeast trade winds (the northeasterlies) from the Atlantic Ocean. Within the Windward Islands is a chain that includes many of the smaller islands in this group. This is often called the Windward Chain and here they are listed from north to south. Dominica: The northernmost island,à the British governmentà held this territory until 1978 and considered it part of the Leeward Islands. It is now an independent country and most often thought to be in the Windward Islands.Martiniqueà (France)Saint Luciaà Saint Vincent andà The GrenadinesGrenadaà à Just a little farther to the east are the following islands. Between the islands of the Greater Antilles and those of the Windward Islands are the Leeward Islands. Mostly small islands, they are called the Leeward Islands because they are away from the wind (lee). The Virgin Islands Just off the coast of Puerto Rico are the Virgin Islands and this is the northernmost part of the Leeward Islands. Theà northern set of islands are territories of the United Kingdom and the southern set are territories of the United States. Outside of the Bahamas and Jamaica, the Virgin Islands are among the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean.St. Croix is the largest of the Virgin Islands.Though considered part of the Lesser Antilles, from a purely geological standpoint, the Virgin Islands are actually part of the Greater Antilles. To the west of the Windward Islands is a stretch of islands known as the Leeward Antilles. These are farther apart from each other than the islands of the other two groups. Ità includes more of theà popular destination Caribbean islands and runs along the Venezuelan coast. From west to east, the majorà islands of the Leeward Antilles include the following and, collectively, the first three are known as the ABC islands. Contemporary Issues in Childhood - Late Motherhood Essay
Contemporary Issues in Childhood - Late Motherhood - Essay Example In almost all the parts of the world this issue has been discussed and debated upon amongst both the medical and non- medical people. Motherhood has been portrayed by the society and various exponents of literary genre as the noblest feeling that a woman experiences in her entire lifetime. It is true that it is a great feeling to be a mother, to rear a child with all her affection, doting on the child and bringing him/her up, but is the picture so simple and easy on either sides of the coin of motherhood? The complicated and multi faceted lifestyle of todayââ¬â¢s women have raised the issues of late motherhood with more relevance than any other time, ââ¬Å"Womenââ¬â¢s physical and emotional experiences in childbirth are being drastically alteredâ⬠(Woliver, 1991, p.482) in the last few decades. Many critics of late motherhood, including several medical personalities opine that it is the skyscraping ambitions of the modern woman that is pushing her to have a late conceptio n, around the age of 40 years and sometimes may be above. The impact of late motherhood on children cannot be ignored. Hence Campbell (2008) has rightly raised the question about the identity of these late mothers. In order to identify and address the complications that late motherhood brings to the lives of both the mother and the child, it is important to understand who these late mothers are. In UK, the late motherhood instances are running high. Prevalent growth in the employments of women, fall in reproductive standards or fertility rates and contemporary standard of living in Europe lead to the incidence of childbearing amongst the mothers in the age group of 35 ââ¬â 49 years. The fertility rates of the women have been going through a drastic change in Europe that could be shown by a chart: These huge transformations in fertility rates and motherhood make at least one fact

(industry FIVE FORCES analysis chapter) in my dissertation Essay
(industry FIVE FORCES analysis chapter) in my dissertation - Essay Example Bargaining Power of Suppliers Major suppliers of chemical manufacturers include: oil and gas companies (Data Monitor, 2011, p. 13, 16). Even though oil and gas products are homogenous or undifferentiated by nature, we should keep in mind these materials are non-renewable items. As a common knowledge, there is no other product substitute for oil and gas products. Considering the fact that there are only a few numbers of large-scale companies that could supply oil and gas to chemical manufacturers, the bargaining power of suppliers is considered high. Therefore, chemical manufacturers do not have the power to control the market prices of oil and gas products. Due to the fact the number of oil and gas suppliers is relatively few as compared to the number of chemical manufacturers around the world; the cost of switching from one supplier to another and suppliersââ¬â¢ dispensability is moderate (Data Monitor, 2011, p. 16). Bargaining Power of Buyers Large multinational companies that u sually purchase chemicals on a daily basis include manufacturing companies that manufacture the following items: plastic, perfume, pharmaceutical products, soap and detergents, shampoo, and people who are involved in agricultural businesses among others (Data Monitor, 2011, p. 13, 15). ... By nature, chemicals are undifferentiated products. For this reason, the buyersââ¬â¢ cost of switching from one chemical manufacturer to another and product dispensability is low (Data Monitor, 2011, p. 15). Even though establishing a strong business relationship with chemical manufacturers increase customer loyalty, the fact that the cost of switching is low makes the buyersââ¬â¢ tendency to switch from one chemical manufacturer to another moderate. In most cases, potential buyers are sensitive to price. Therefore, the only way for chemical manufacturers to persuade potential buyers to purchase their products is for them to be able to manufacture their products at a lower price. Rivalry among Existing Firms Competitors within the chemical manufacturing industry includes chemical manufacturers of basic chemicals (i.e. petrochemicals and plastic resins), specialty or fine chemicals (i.e. additives, paints, coating, fragrances, soaps, and detergents), pharmaceutical products (i.e . medicinal active ingredients and formulations), fertilizer and agrochemicals (i.e. chemical fertilizers and herbicides, insecticides) (Data Monitor, 2011, p. 7). Because of the continuously increasing number of chemical manufacturers in the global markets, the market competition within the chemical manufacturing industry is intensely competitive. In fact, there are quite a lot of local and international companies that are continuously competing for the same group of customers. Upon analyzing the chemical manufacturing industry, it is clear that the rivalry among the manufacturers of chemicals is very intense due to the fact that these companies are
